People afterwards describe feeling a sense of calm from releasing, letting go and feeling free in their body. They feel a real sense of connection with themselves, nature and others, as well as a release of tension and are energised. It’s about moving as much or as little as you want, with no judgement. Everyone is welcome - anyone can participate, regardless of age, gender or ability. No experience is necessary. It is a mindful experience moving and connecting to the body through the music.
Dancing freely to music can bring everyday joy, empowerment and allows a release of emotions in a transformative way.

About the facilitators
Hannah
Trained as a Dance and Movement facilitator with Dance Awake™ and having studied Dance Movement Therapy, Hannah Green has been holding free-movement dance groups in nature across Lincolnshire since April 2021. As a mover, groover and initiator of positive change through dance and movement, she guides people to let go and feel free in their body.
After experiencing dance for many years through clubbing in her 20s, she looked for natural ways to feel bliss through dance. Over the last 20 years she has practised yoga and embodiment practices and through music and dance has found a deep connection to her body and soul. Inspired by travels in Brazil where she felt freedom of expression in movement and music embedded in the culture, Hannah feels passionate to guide people to discover this freedom in movement in the UK.
Hannah has a background in Health and Wellness Coaching with a degree in psychology, providing her with the knowledge and skills to guide people to feel in their comfort zone, and be empowered through free movement.
Qualified in Mental Health Awareness for Sport and Physical Activity, This Mum Moves Ambassador and Community Dance Practice.
David
David learnt the value of movement meditation whilst training as a Tai Chi instructor in the mid 1990’s. This discipline helped him realise the importance of focussing on the bodies’ actions and positioning as an aid to stillness of the mind. His love of dance developed at the same time, dancing to rave music, jazz funk and psychedelic rock until the early 2000’s. After raising a family, his passion for dance was revived during the Covid lockdowns, which renewed his interest in movement both as a meditation and emotional release.
David is a highly dedicated meditator and has previously held meditation and mindfulness classes. Studying and practicing Yoga on a daily basis has enabled his body and mind to achieve freedom in the dance and in life.
After having undertaken the Dance Awake Facilitator training, he facilitates events for Dance Free in Lincolnshire. David’s purpose in becoming a facilitator is to share his embodiment practice as a means to a more expansive and fulfilling life.
Sharon
Sharon describes herself as a dance addict! She started dancing as an adult, going to clubs and then learning various types of dance. Taking part in weekly classes and attending workshops in the UK and abroad, she has delved into all aspects of how to listen, hear, connect, immerse, let go, feel and bring the music into the body.
Through her Dance and Movement Facilitator training Sharon has discovered more ways and to connect body, movement and music, and the immense benefits this can bring for mental health and wellbeing.
Sharon’s mission is to continue building the dance free community and sharing the joy and benefits that dance brings. As well as facilitating Dance Free sessions, Sharon will also be running a seated dance fitness class.
Protecting the Planet
Participants develop a deep sense of connectedness to nature through their dance journey and eco-enrichment activities included in our events. This can lead to pro-environmental behaviours and a feeling of care for green and blue spaces and help in nature’s recovery.
Car sharing, cycling and using public transport is encouraged when promoting our events.
Dance Free CIC uses solar and wind power to recharge our wireless headsets and other devices, and has access to an electric vehicle and uses this whenever possible.
We have collaborated with the Woodland Trust, Canal & River Trust, Green Synergy, Old Wood Organic, Natural England and Lincolnshire Wolds Outdoor Festival to run events which promote the appreciation and value of 16 local green and blue public spaces. As a member of Localmotion’s Climate Hope Lincoln we support positive engagement around social and climate justice encouraging local action.
